Bones probably from a cassowary, painted with a natural earth pigment of red ochre. This hairpins are fashioned with two thin bone ends to be inserted into the hair and used for decoration with a hair coiffure, the top section, three claw-like display with holes drilled into each one, for attachments, the other has no attachment holes.. Sold as a pair with it's custom mounted stand.
