Very Rare Bi-Cornual Queensland Aboriginal Basket, very finewoven lawyer cane with natural earth pigments. It was very difficult to capture an image to elaborate the beauty of the faded pigments due the the cavities between rattan strips. If you look close enought you will see the remaining pigments and design. Provenance: Formerly from the Muralambeen Homestead, Far north Qld. Ex Sotheby's lot 12- 2007

A classic and early shield, oval shaped front painted black with battle scars and carved "R,B,N's and A's,H,L, alphabets on the back. A plain shield that has a strong presence to begin with and later the characters were probably carved upon first contact. Age estimated mid to late 1800s.

Early shield, oval shaped with a carved six pointed red ochre star with an inner circle painted black on the front, sorrounded by a painted hourglass-like shaped six point design. The wood grains shows good wear from it's age and use. A good form and shape.Old patina. Battle scars present. Mid to late 1800s. Marked with a "No. 37" on an edge.

An early rainforest shield made from the roots of a fig tree, the front exhibits worn pigments of various colors, the surface, scarred yet smooth from it's use. The reverse displays the ignitials "T.S". Small loop handle worn from use. Likely a little man's functional shield.
